Peoples United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO)

Press Release

25 August 2011

In support of the Global Week of Action against Swaziland

The Peoples United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) pledges its committed and unreserved support on the call by the Swaziland United Democratic Front (SUDF) for the Global Week of Action against Swaziland on the week of 5 – 9 September 2011.

This is a legitimate call by the oppressed people of Swaziland who on a daily basis are ruthlessly confronted by an oppressive, repressive and parasitic Tinkhundla royal regime.

This is aptly evident in the demands put forward and the ongoing myriad of crises besieging the regime. It is worth noting that these are not new demands, but have always been there while the Tinkhundla regime stubbornly resists to address. This is typical of a regime that is not people driven, but autocratic and bent on protecting the interests of a small family elite.

It must be clear that the activity is targeted at putting pressure on the ruling and undemocratic Tinkhundla regime to return power to the people. Therefore, we call on our people to resist any call to the contrary made by the desperate and oppressive Tinkhundla regime as it always does.

We wish to salute all our friends and allies internationally for the solidarity, commitment and support they always afford the struggling masses of our country.

Until the Tinkhundla royal regime returns power to the people, the call for the democratization of our country shall continue to resonate here at home and abroad!
